The spring bar tool is a vital piece of kit for the watch enthusiast. Within our community It is very seldom a watch will spend it's life on one strap. Enthusiasts pair their watches with a myriad of different strap types and materials for varying occasions. 

Switching between nylon straps does not typically require removal of the spring bars, where as leather and bracelets certainly do. When leather straps are pulled through the spring bars like a nylon strap, it can damage the leathers finish, dye and engraving. This compromises the' appearance and overall lifespan of the strap. The resulted damage can be seen in a linear fashion for the length of the strap in what we refer to as a "skid mark."
